DURHAM COUNTY Under 20's 2012 Programme

A re-structure, scrapping the old Championship system of all 6 counties playing each other and moving to 2 groups of 3, this year East and West and the following year North and South so that all 6 keep in contact rather than have a possible situation where a couple may never play each other again.
So, this year as far as Durham are concerned (in the event of cancellation, games to be played the following Sunday):
Sunday 22 January 2012 : Durham v Northumberland (H)
at Billingham RFC
Sunday 12 February 2012 : Yorkshire v Durham (A)
Sunday 18 March 2012 : North Semi-finals: East Winners (H) v West Runners-up
West Winners (H) v East Runners-up
Sunday 1 April 2012 : North Final
The winners will progress to the National knock-out stages - semi-final and final - dates unknown as yet.
The bottom counties in each group after the first 2 matches will be encouraged to play each other on 18 March to allow players in those counties more exposure individually as far as selection for the North Division is concerned, but the fixture will only be played if both counties want it.
The net effect is that the number of games will be reduced to a minimum of 2 and maximum of 4 within the Division.
Tony Howe remains as Chairman of the County U20's and Derek (Doc) English is taking over as Secretary again after a few years gap (details below). The coaching arrangements are still to be confirmed.
