Durham vs Notts Lincs and Derby

Durham entertained Notts Lincs and Derby in the County Championship Plate Competition at Gateshead Rugby Club on Saturday 2nd May. The game provided an interesting individual contest which saw Durham number 8 Phil Eggleshaw, a student at Durham University, line up opposite his brother, the Notts Lincs and Derby captain also playing at number 8

An entertaining 1st half saw Durham trail in the early stages, but despite miss ing a number of kicks at goal they, led by 23 points to 16 at the break out scoring the visitors by 4 tries to 1.

After the break Durham were reduced to 14 men when flanker Waddingham recieved his 2nd yellow card. Errors from both sides limited the scoring opportunities but Notts Links and Derby did managed to out score Durham by 1 converted try and a penalty to a penalty to level the scores at 26 points all with 13 minutes to go. Both sides had the opportunity to end the game in front, but the score remained Durham 26pts - Notts Lincs and Derby 26pts
